Routine visit, had their Whistle Stop Amber (greatly improved over past memory), Pale Ale, and seasonal Wit, the latter decent if not overly adventurous. Only four house beers, but PLENTY of worthy guest beers, including two cask-conditioned beers on handpump! A worthwhile stop, dining is reported as good as well.

TRwo of us stopped in for dinner and to try the brews. Dinner was awesome, service was prompt with a smile. We had the sampler - light ale, amerrican ale, dark ale, and smokey stout. I'm far from an expert, but they were all great.

I tried the cask conditioned pale ale which was great. They only had 4 house beers on tap. The tomato soup was excellant as was the crab melt.

Stopped in last week while in town on business. A couple of their own brews on tap with a decent, if limited, selection of other brews on tap. I can imagine this place, and the bar downstairs, get quite busy being in the middle of a college town. The local beer was good if not exceptional. Their food is pretty good also, though it focuses mostly on sandwiches. People in the bar and working behind the bar seem fairly friendly. Not a bad establishment for being in the middle of nowhere.

2 of their ales on tap, so I'm supposing they are still in the process of getting/getting started with a new brewer. Bar staff either clueless to this, or sworn to secrecy, as my questions went unanswered. Do feature a nice selection of guest taps, which seemed to be what most all of the bar patrons were having. Hope to see a better selection of their own brews; hopefully sooner than later.

Hadn't been here in quite a while. so I ordered a sampler. Unlike many places, it was served to me one or two at a time, rather than all at once. As the server wasn't busy, I would imagine when they're packed, you get 'em all at once. Had seven different beers, and enjoyed the Pug's Eye Porter the best. It was really close to the porter from Clay Pipe that I tried earlier that day. The other offerings were clean, but nothing to go crazy over. They have one cask operating, and also pour other beers as well. Have had some of their seasonals at beer fests and they were really good, so I'll definitely stop again to see what's special that day.

Who would have thought that a bar in the middle of Carroll county on a monday night would be cranking out a live Reggae band, and it was busy. I dont spend much time in the sticks, but if ts like this ill be back. Got hooked on a beer called Hoodle Head and tried a crazy energy drink called sparkles or sparks. Had a blast im still really in shock I thougt I was in for a very boring night killing time while in Westminter on business. The bartender, i never got his name was like a cyclone behind the bar this guy was the tazmanian devil of bartending ive seen 2 people not be able to move as fast as him. What a cool place.

The beers, while good, were nothing extraordinary. The food was great based on my one limited sampling. However, this place is geared toward fine dining and the prices reflect it.

Had our toddler along so we didn't try their bar, went to the dining room instead. Tried Johansson's amber and wheat beers. Both beers had outstanding flavor. Ordered a Cob salad, wife ordered Fiesta salad, son had grilled cheese from the childrens menu. Food was great, excellent value for the money. Fortunately we only live a mile away because we will be going back.

Recently visited and liked eveything about this place. A great British pub decor, good beer (really liked the Whistle Stop Ale from the cask) and excellent food. Wish I lived a little closer. The prices were great too.

We love Johansson's. Everyone (including Nick, and Darcy, who pours a Guinness with a Shamrock on top) is great, but don't forget about Jason, the bar manager. He is the reason the bar upstairs is so fantastic. They now have an Oatmeal stout that is stupendous. Visit Westminster soon!

The pub, was very busy, so i went downstairs to the Down Under. And had one of the best time of my life. Went on sunday night, and was a little annoyed at the karaoke singing but the service and beer were top notch. the pale ale was one fo the best i ever had. and the bartenders shelly and doug were alot of fun. doug seemed to have alot of knowledge of beers, and anjoyed his conversation and shelly was very entertaining when she waited on me as well. menu bar type food, but the turkey wrap i had was excellent, not what i expected. over all a great night out, next time im in town ill be going Down Under!

The beers were great and the selection 16-18 strong. The food was good and the portions huge! The British Pub atmosphereis neat, but best of all are the bartenders. On Saturday night ther are the most unusual pair. Darcy, about 25 years old and absolutely beautiful and Nick, about 45-50 and just about the most sexy man I have ever met. On top of that the service they provide meets or beats that which I have recieved at 5 star establishments. Go for the beer, the food, the atmosphere, and the eye candy!

Great Awesome! Great Great Great
Stopped last Saturday for dinner and a couple of beers. Went into the basement bar first and found it empty other than bartender and some gentleman nursing down a pitcher of what appeared to be Bud Light or such (at least by the color). My wife got a Golden Ale (seems to be one of those taste inhibited beers for the Coors Light crowd) which was not that bad of a beer if you are looking for something a "little bland". I had a Pale Ale and found it very tasty, nice hopped, and a full bodied beer. The bartender was not very knowledgeable about the house brands. By the looks of all the decorations and posters from American Megaswill brewerys this basement bar looked to draw from the local college crowd. We finished our beers and went on upstairs for dinner. (There was about 8 pool tables down in this part of the bar).Upon entering the dining room proper we were told we had an hour wait for dinner (It was the local high schools prom night). We waited at the upstairs bar. This bar was extraordinary. Truely an old English pub bar, darts boards, chalk board listing all the beers, and the bar itself was vast, old, and ornate and the ceiling fans are incredible. The service was much better up here. I got a Maibock (slightly flat but still tasty) and my wife had settled in with the Golden Ale. We had a couple of beers and then was seated for dinner. We had Crab Drip as an appetizer, which had plenty of crab in it, the salads were fresh and appetizing. My wife got the Stuffed Shrimp and i got a Veal Pasta. Both dishes were outstanding, well prepared and well presented. During dinner a had a Victory Hop Devil (one of my favorite beers) and we coffee and some dessert. I would recommemend this place to anyone... but i did get the impression the this was a restaurant which brewed beer as opposed to a brewpub which served food. All in all you will enjoy!

Awesome! Great Good So So Great
Stopped in after the Maryland Wine Festival to finally get to see this place! It's only a 45 minute drive from B-more, but I don't find myself getting out here much. Got to sample the "Deuce" before the keg blew, and it was a wonderful, full-bodied, malty ale (which tasted quite strong as well). The Hoodlehead Pale is a delightfully hoppy American IPA - one of my faves in Maryland for this style. Had a good burger at the upstairs bar. Unfortunately, the service was marginal at best. I guess out-of-towners don't qualify for the good service the regulars were getting - we seemed to be an annoyance to the bartenders. Also winced when a customer came in and asked for "something strong" and the bartender poured him a Guinness. Nothing against Guinness, but...what's wrong with the house beers? Great job by the brewer, and great decor in the upstairs bar!

So So So So Lousy So So So So
Well I made the mistake of going into the first door I came too while walking down the street. It lead me downstairs to this lame sports bar where a sampled their amber which was OK at best and then ate the worst hamburger I have ever had(I think there was a pound of salt on it!) I was talking to the bartender about logo glasses and she said they have them upstairs!?? I went upstairs to find an awesome bar (one door past the corner) Cool fans! Only 3 beers on tap, India Pale, Amber and Golden. I was not impressed, would have prefered a Stout, Nut Brown or Porter. Food was a lot better upstairs, I am sure of it!

I can only nod assent to the previous raves and add a word regarding the decor, which is cobbled together from earlier establishments but so skillfully you'd think you were in an integral bar decades old. Special compliments to The Silver Fox and to Darcy, the aforementioned pretty and friendly bartender.

This is one of the finest of the many brewpubs I've visited;I nod assent to the previous raves and would like also to commend the decor, which was cobbled together from several older establishments but so skillfully that you'd think you were seated in an integral bar decades old. Special compliments for gracious service go to The Silver Fox and to Darcy (the aforementioned pretty and friendly bartender).
